|Geis, Dorothy (Dottie) E.
Age 96, loving mother and grandmother, was called home to our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, January 22, 2013. She was born on November 27, 1916 to Howard and Mabel (Sweet) Green in Syracuse, NY. She graduated with a degree in Nursing from Syracuse University. She was a very compassionate registered nurse who loved caring for her patients. Mrs. Geis' compassion was not limited to just her patients. She was a selfless volunteer for many causes including her churches, the Kalamazoo Shepherd Center and American Red Cross blood drives. She was a devout Christian and member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kalamazoo, MI and the Community of Joy Lutheran Church in Rio Rancho, NM. Mrs. Geis was a member of the Ladies’ Library Association in Kalamazoo and the Red Hat Society in both locales. Her hobbies included reading, sewing, and bowling, as well as creating pottery and hats. Most of all, she was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and a friend who “never met a stranger”. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur F. Geis, M.D.; parents, Howard and Mabel Green; sisters, Nellie Misiaszek and Lorraine Thomas; brother, Edwin Green; granddaughters, Melissa McMahon and Catherine Gregory and grandson, Chris Piel. Mrs. Geis is survived by her daughters, Susan D. Kuhnee and husband, C. Thomas Kuhnee, of Rio Rancho, NM, and Carol L. Gregory and husband, Michael T. Piel, M.D. of Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Jennifer Wood, Tanya Kuhnee, Charlie Kuhnee, Jessen Gregory, James Nicholas Gregory, Andrew (Katie) Piel, Jarrett (Katie) Piel, and Michael Piel, II.; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; brother, Howard (Larissa) Green, of Sarasota, FL; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.
