STAPP - Barbara K. Stapp, daughter of Harley W. "Dock" and Vivian (Upshaw) Shannon, was born October 18, 1931, in Douglas County, Missouri, and passed away April 28, 2009 following a courageous battle with cancer. Barbara grew up in Drury, Missouri, and graduated from Mountain Grove High School in 1949. After high school, she attended Southwest Missouri State University. She continued her education by taking night classes at the University of New Mexico, The University of Albuquerque, and St. Joseph's College of Santa Fe while working at Kirtland Air Force Base. Barbara was a budget analyst for the Air Force Contract Management Division; an auditor on major defense contracts for Defense Contract Management; and a staff accountant in Policy and Procedures for Defense Finance and Accounting Service, Cleveland Center. She married George Stapp, Jr. on August 16, 1952. They moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1955 where their four daughters were born. In 1967, the family moved back to Mountain Grove, Missouri, where they were in partnership with George's parents in the Stapp Funeral Home. In 1992 they were transferred to Cleveland, Ohio. After retirement in 1996, they returned to the Albuquerque area, making Rio Rancho their home. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband and her father. She is survived by her four daughters: Kim Stapp of Warsaw, Missouri; Jennifer Beckholt and husband, Jeff; Suzanne Riley and husband, Andrew, and Bryn Livingston and husband, Mark, all of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; ten grandchildren: Adam & Daniel Rowles, Colin & Nolan Riley, Shelby & Lindsey Livingston, Angela & Danyel Longmire and Dixie & Morgan Beckholt; five great-grandchildren; her mother, Vivian Shannon; her brother Harley Van Shannon and his wife, Norma, all of Mountain Grove, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in Barbara's name to the American Cancer Society, Heritage Home Hospice, or Presbyterian Ear Institute.
