Edward (Ed) Ferron left us peacefully Saturday, February 6, 2016 surrounded by his loving family in the comfort of his Rio Rancho home at the age of 85. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Shirley Ferron; son, Patrick Ferron; daughter, Kim Mendenhall and husband, Michael; Ed’s youngest son, Craig Ferron and wife, Julie. Ed is lovingly remembered by his grandchildren: Bryan Mendenhall; Daniel Mendenhall and companion, Sara Burney and great-grandson, Alexander Mendenhall; Jason Ferron and wife, Jessica; grandsons: Adam Wood; James Wood and wife, Nikki and great-grandchildren, Rylie and Patrick. Ed was born in Manchester, NH on July 29, 1930; graduated from West Manchester High School in 1950. He proudly served his country for three years with the United States Army, as a medical paratrooper of the 188th Infantry Brigade. A longtime resident of Los Alamos and retired after 40 years of devoted service from Los Alamos National Laboratory; Ed and Shirley moved to Rio Rancho, NM to be closer to family where he enjoyed golfing and pursuing his hobby of model railroading. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. at Guaje Pines Cemetery at 101-121 Aspen Drive, Los Alamos, NM for friends and family. A Memorial Service and prayers will be offered later that afternoon at 5:30 p.m. at the West Mesa Christian Church, 8821 Golf Course Rd, Albuquerque, NM 87121. A small reception will immediately follow in the church to offer your condolences. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the nurses’ association called “Giving” through Presbyterian Health Services or the hospice agency of your choice for the continued caring assistance they provide to loved ones in their final days.
