On February 6th , 2021 Gilbert Gurule, age 82, of Alameda, New Mexico went
home to his father, our lord.
Gilbert was a kind and generous man who would do
anything for family. He loved his family with all his heart and enjoyed picking on
his grand and great grandchildren. We also can’t talk about Gilbert without talking
about his love for food. The man loved good food and we all share great
memories, sitting around the table joking and eating. He knew how to live and
loved to make us all laugh. Pito aka Johnny Cash, as we all called him, above all
else loved his wife, Lillian. They were inseparable and that’s just the way Pito
wanted it. He always had to be near his love of over 60 years and she with him.
Pito was a man of few words but he made those words count. Whether it was to
teach or just to make us laugh you never wanted to miss it, because either way it
was always gold. He was an amazing Son, Husband, Father, Uncle, Grand Father,
Great Grandfather, in-law, Godfather and friend. The world has lost a truly great
man, but we take Solace in the knowledge heaven has gained a new angel.
Gilbert was preceded in death by his Father Mercedes Gurule, Mother Genoveva
Gurule, Brother Michael Gurule, Oliver Gurule, Sisters Julia Kerry, Connie Segura,
Betty Martinez, Nancy Hamby, Flossie Gutierrez, Tina Gurule, his Son Tony Ruben
Gurule and Granddaughter Barbara Vigil.
