Marissa Kay Maurer

August 24, 2006 — June 15, 2009

On Monday, June 15, 2009, our little miracle, Marissa Kay, left peacefully in her home to be with our Lord Jesus Christ, to be in her new Eternal home. She could not wait to turn three. We will forever miss her and hold her in our hearts. Marissa was Da Da's girl, Ma Ma's precious angel and Sissy's best friend; Ma Maw and Papa's cuppy cake and Grammy and Papa's precious. Marissa touched the lives of everybody she met and was loved by all. Her fight came to an end and we have our victory. Marissa was born in Farmington on Aug. 24, 2006, and shared the same birthday as her Grammy. She is the Wonderful Daughter of Aaron Joseph and Amanda Kay (Shorter) Maurer. Marissa was proceeded in death by her great-grandmother, Betty Long; and her great-grandfather, Arthur Maurer. Marissa Kay is survived by her loving parents, Aaron Joseph and Amanda Kay (Shorter) Maurer; her wonderful little sister and best friend, Emily Marie Maurer; "Papa" and "Ma Maw," Ronnie and Marilyn (Long) Shorter; "Papa" and "Grammy," Mike and Conny Maurer; "Great Pa Paw," Pete Long, great-grandmother Lorna Maurer, Great Grandpa Pee-Wee Shorter and Great Grandma Jane Shorter; her loving uncles, Bill Long, Donnie Shorter, Mike Woods and Curtis Watts; her loving aunts, Deen, Jennifer, Rachiel, Kassidy Pat, Cherilyn and Dawn; and many, many special cousins. Marissa loved going to the lake and cruising in her own Mustang as well as Daddy's Shelby. She loved to camp, go four wheeling and travel all over, but most of all she was a speed freak. Her smile could not have gotten any bigger when she "wants to go fast." She was a music fan of Elvis Presley and loved to play Itsy Bitsy Spider. Pallbearers include Mike Maurer, Ronnie Shorter, Bill Long, Donnie Shorter, Mike Woods and Curtis Watts. The honorary pallbearer is Pete Long. Dress for summer, this is a celebration. Aaron and Amanda Maurer would like all that attend to bring a donation to the graveside of a book or small toy so that Marissa can allow other children the same gifts that she had here on earth. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to help offset their extensive medical costs. Donations can be made in their name through The Journey Church, (505) 320-9190, or by contacting the family. A special thanks goes out to Bearcat Drilling/Elm Ridge Exploration, Williams Exploration & Production, Dominic, Bridget and A.K. Vallejos and a personal thanks to Elite Paint and Body for all the paint work on Marissa's final resting place. She'll be racing around Heaven in a Ford Mustang, of course. Arrangements are with Brewer, Lee & Larkin Funeral Home 103 E. Ute St Farmington, NM 87401 (505) 325-8688
