Mark A. Wheeler

Wheeler, Mark Avan

known as "Pastor Mark" or "Brother Mark" or just "Mark" was born on August 9, 1965 in Wrightstown, New Jersey to the late Bishop Lloyd A. Wheeler and Pastor Ivy O. Wheeler. He lived in several places residing with his father who served in the United States Air Force: New Jersey, Philippines, Oklahoma, Germany and then Albuquerque, New Mexico where he attended school from 5th to 12th grade. Attending Eldorado High School he was the fastest runner in the state in the 200 meter run and held the state record set in 1983 for many years. He still holds the record at Eldorado High School. Mark moved the East Coast and eventually settled in Baltimore, Maryland. During his residence there he became a Civil Service employee with the National Institute of Health Services for several years. While there he joined First Mount Olive Full Gospel Baptist Church and worked in the media ministry. In 2013 he returned to Albuquerque and then began his quest to fulfill the plan of God for his life. Mark was a charter youth member since Faith Tabernacle's inception in 1930. As a member of Faith Tabernacle he was part of the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship International under Founder Bishop Paul S. Morton, attending many conferences and workshops. He received his ministerial license from Faith Tabernacle on March 1, 2015 and was ordained as Elder at the New Mexico/Central West Texas Conference in El Paso, Texas, March 12, 2015. During these last years, he was active in the Men's Ministry, Choir Member, Audio Ministry, overseeing the Helping Hand Food Ministry, building operations and carrying the message of Jesus Christ through service outside walls. He had a desire in this heart to aid those homeless, drug-addicted, depressed and hungry, giving them hope because of the God he had come to know, love and trust. he gave of himself and whatever he had unselfishly. Many can testify to his unwavering faith and determination to press on until God moved, giving them the encouragement, courage and example needed to change their lives. Elder Mark became a friend to the friendless, hope to the hopeless, dependable anchor to his family and a true believer in Jesus Christ. His work at the Tabernacle and service  in the community to all was undeniable. He loved music and was always working toward manifestation of that dream. He had a melodious voice like his father and infectious personality. He leaves in this life his mother, Dr. Ivy Wheeler; brothers Greg, Derek and Troy; three daughters Chrishelle, Chante and Alexis; one son Marques; three grandchildren Bentley, Breezy and Brooklyn; ten nieces and nephews; cousins; many Christian sisters and brothers and host of friends and acquaintances. His affirmation in life is stated in Joshua 1:9 "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go."
