Max Tafoya passed away on the afternoon of March 3rd, 2021 at the age of 98. He was born on October 28th, 1922 in Alameda, NM to parents Eligio and Amalia Tafoya. He lived almost his entire life in Alameda.
Max is survived by his lovely wife Sally Gallegos Tafoya of whom they shared 5 decades of happiness and loving together. He is also survived by his children Max(Barbara) Tafoya, Nick(Magdalena) Tafoya, Liz(Juan) Correa, Jerry(Mary) Castillo, Teresa Castillo, Andrew(Andrea) Castillo, Chris(Maria) Tafoya and Thomas(Carolyn) Tafoya and his many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers Ignacio Tafoya, Ross(Nela) Tafoya, sister Mela Tafoya and many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Max was a WWII Veteran with 7 bronze stars from various battles such as Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Air Offensive Europe, and many others. He served honorably for the entire duration of the war. He rarely spoke of his experiences or tragedies during that period, but he was very proud to have served his country.
Max worked for General Electric Company as a plastic tool maker for over 35 years. He loved all his family and friends. He also enjoyed all his animals, gardens, pastures and the many projects that kept him busy everyday. He was always outside working, doing something, and he truly loved being there in his property in Alameda. He lived a happy, healthy and great life. Max was dearly loved by all those who knew him and he will be greatly missed.
A viewing of 10 people at a time will take place on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at Daniels Family Funeral Alameda Chapel from 4-7pm.
Due to COVID, funeral services will be private.
