Pamela Jane Moya (72) passed away peacefully, with her daughters by her side on December 18th, 2021.
Pam was preceded in death by her parents George and Jewell Markle and 1 brother Johnny Lee “Butch” Markle and many other extended family members who meant so much to her. She is reunited and rejoicing with them now and we know our beloved angels along with close friends Linda Jaramillo, Big Pete and Ruthann Lentz all welcomed her into Heaven with open arms.
She is survived and loved so dearly by her daughters Renay Moya-Baca (Gil Baca), Tanya Pearcy and their father Andy Moya and his wife Sandra. Grandchildren Joseph Pearcy (Lydia), Justin Pearcy, Victoria Pearcy (Shaylyn Fowler), Former Son in Law, Art Pearcy Jr. Great Grandchildren Freya and Ronin Pearcy. Siblings Patricia McMichael (Roger) and Mike Markle (Zondra), 1 Aunt- Mary Gaines. Teri Morgan who helped take care of her and whom she considered a daughter. All her nieces and nephews whom she loved so much and many cousins and a whole lot of great friends who meant the world to her.
Pam was born on April 15th, 1949 in Harrison Arkansas. The 2nd of 4 children. The family settled in Laramie, Wyoming when Pam was about 5. She grew up loving horses, music, singing and dancing and was really close to her brothers and sister who were inseparable. She was known as “Pammy” by many of her Aunts and Uncles and was frequently described as a “breath of fresh air”.
As a teenager, she loved hanging out with her friends, cruising around town and getting into a little bit of mischief. She graduated Laramie High School in 1967 and went to the University of Wyoming for two years before having her first daughter Pamela “Renay” who was named after her. Becoming a military spouse in 1970, their first assignment took them to Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque, NM for 10 years and that’s where they made their home. In 1973, having her 2nd daughter Tanya, her family was complete and her heart was full. Pam made lifelong friends and that’s where she developed her love of softball. She joined a local team with her friends and loved playing so much… everything about It, even the scraped-up knees but especially the friendships! She was pretty good too!
Military assignments would take her and her family all over the world, from Albuquerque to Alaska in 1980, to Oklahoma in 1983 and abroad to Italy where she made more lifelong friends and also created a Country Western dance group called The Outlaws complete with matching jackets. They competed in dance competitions and won a few but no matter where life took her, her loves never changed. She still loved Wyoming, all her friends and family, singing, and dancing and playing softball; even coaching her daughters’ teams. She returned to Albuquerque in 1988, lived there until 1993 when life took her in a different direction and she returned “home” back to Laramie. She always said she was a “Wyoming Gal”. There she made new lifelong friends and enjoyed racing, crony dinners on Friday nights and target shooting. She loved every minute of it. She would come up to NM and spend every Christmas and New Year with her daughters, her grandchildren, her former spouse and his wife and her former son in law and his family. She truly cherished those times when we were all together.
In 2019 her daughter said it was time to make Albuquerque home. She moved in with Tanya and thus began the beautiful chaotic world of grandchildren, great grandchildren, 2 dogs, 2 cats and a whole lot of noise. She probably could’ve done with less pets but she sure loved her “brown eyed boy” Sampson, he was the only one she’d let lay on her lap or on her chair. She also had a special place in her heart for her grand puppy LuLu whose mischief would make her laugh. The loves of her life were her grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she treasured. Freya was her “pretty girl” and Ronin her “blue eyed cowboy”. She was so in love with both of them and they absolutely adored her.
She was a lover of music, bluegrass, country and Spanish and she loved to sing and dance. She didn’t care how sick she was, nothing or no-one was going to stop her from doing her little “jig”. She loved Friday Nights at Chili Hills with the Guenther’s playing music which brought her tremendous joy. They would always play a special song for her and she would get up and do her little jig around the restaurant. There was a light in her eyes when she danced and it radiated to everyone there.
She loved spending time with her family: watching Yellowstone, singing karaoke, dancing in the kitchen with her grandkids, listening to her grandsons play guitar and playing with her Ronin and Freya. She cherished the holidays when she could be together with both her daughters and her whole family. That’s what she loved most.
We want to give a special shout out to her closest friends, for they meant so much to her: Rosie Sandoval, Kay/Bob Borowiecki, Pat Miller, Valorie Clymer, Jane/Billy Gonzales. Smiley Lentz, Louise Logan, Tony and Joann Sanchez, and a big heartfelt thank you to Tony for playing guitar and serenading our mom as she made her way from this world to eternal life where we all hope to reunite and rejoice one day and to the staff at Rust Medical Center in Rio Rancho, NM, we cannot thank you enough for your compassion, kindness and care of our mom during her final days. We truly appreciate all of you.
