Therriault, Robert John
Age 67, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2018. He was born in Joliet, IL on October 28, 1950, to William and Eleanor Therriault.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, William Therriault Jr.
Robert is survived by wife, Patricia Therriault of Rio Rancho, NM; son, Kurt Therriault of Austin, TX; life long friend, Juanita Drerup of Rio Rancho, NM. grandchildren, Keeley and Jewel; sister in law, Sue Therriault; niece, Carolyn Therriault; nephew, Ken Therriault; pets, Rascal, Allie, Quita, and Sam.
Robert was married to Patricia Therriault for 36 wonderful years. Bob joined the Air Force in 1971, attended basic training at Keesler AFB, and was then stationed in Bayshore Michigan. Bob was deployed and served in the Vietnam War from December 1972 to June 1973. Starting in 1977 he cross trained out of Radar Bomb Scoring and into satellite operations. His first assignment in this field started at Fairchild AFB working with the Defense Meteorological Satellite Program (DMSP). Bob and his family transferred overseas to Woomera, Australia for a 2 year assignment continuing to support DMSP. He earned his “Official Weather Guesser” award while there. His next assignment came in 1982 to the Los Angeles Air Station, System Program Office, where he finished out his 20 year Air Force enlistment and retired in 1991. Bob continued to work with Satellites and their ground systems for the Titan Corp. in Los Angeles, CA. In 1993 Bob and his family relocated to Las Cruces, NM and he started work at the White Sands Missile Range supporting the (TDRS), Tracking and Data Relay Satellite, program providing communications to the NASA Space Shuttle Missions. In 1997 Bob was hired and started working for the Space test and engineering contract (STEC) at Kirtland AFB Albuquerque, NM. In 2010 Bob was hired at what he always called his “Dream Job” with The Aerospace Corporation supporting (STEC). This was the happiest and most enjoyable position in his long career in Space Systems.
