Roybal, Rudolph (Rudy)

Date of Birth:    June 16, 1933
Date of Death:  October 4, 2016
Rudolph Roybal known to all as Rudy was born in Pecos, New Mexico on June 16, 1933 to Demetrio Roybal and Dora Ruiz.  Rudy has two brothers, Milton and Eddie and three sisters, Rosalia, Katie and Agnes.
Rudy has three daughters from his first marriage.  His daughters are Sandra, Debbie and Mary Jane.  One son, Larry.
He is survived by his loving wife, Helen and her children:  Terry (George), Andrew (Debra), David, Michael, Jody, Trina and Graciela.   He raised Trina and Graciela from the age of five as his own daughters.
Rudy has numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he loved all very much.
Rudy loved to play guitar and played it well.  He played for family and friends and for the church.  His passion for music was inherited by his Grandfather, Gregorio Ruiz, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame with his Northern NM songs and violin.
Rudy enjoyed playing guitar with his brother Eddie and son-in-law George and many other friends.  He also loved singing with his loving wife, Helen and all who wanted to join them.
Rudy and Helen have been happily married for 35 years.  They were married on New Year’s Eve and each year on their anniversary they celebrated each year and appreciated each other for the love and true bond they have kept through the years.
Rudy joined the army and was deployed to Korea.  Returning from the service, Rudy was employed with the US Forest Service.  He retired from the forest service after 35 years of employment.  He moved to Ponderosa, NM and drove a school bus for many years and retired with the Jemez School District.
Rudy and Helen spent a lot of time together building furniture and just loved being together.  They did everything together.  Rudy loved all his family dearly.  He welcomed everyone into his home with open arms and a loving smile.
He also opened his home to extended family and they too were all loved.  Rudy and Helen welcomed everyone …never expecting anything in return, but respect in which they received.  There was always love in the home for all who visited.  Rudy’s faith in God was his first priority, second was Helen and his family.  Rudy loved to have family for holidays, birthday parties or just to get together to sing and play guitars.
He loved watching his family grow and spending time with the grandchildren and great grandchildren.  The love Rudy had was never ending.
The love he gave was spoken and shown, one of his precious gifts he continually gave.
Rudy was an honorable man, devoted husband, loving father and grandfather.  He truly was a great example of a man.
We will hold onto and cherish these memories forever.  He will be surely and deeply missed.  The memories we have of him will never part from us.  Celebrate his life ….for he loved life and was always happy each day.  Rudy was very thankful and appreciated the good in every situation and lived life to the fullest until he could no longer do these things.
He was very grateful for his wife, family, friends and for all the many blessings from above.
Rudy was called home on October 4, 2016 at his residence in Ponderosa, NM with his loving family by his side.
He is preceded in death by his loving parents, daughter Mary Jane, sister Katie and step-son Jody.
