Our wonderful and courageous son, Aaron “A-Aron” Albert Armijo, 24, became an angel and entered heaven on May 24, 2021.
Aaron is survived by his loving parents, Gilbert and Kristy Armijo; his best friend and brother, Anthony J. Armijo; beautiful sister, Abigayle M. Armijo; talented little brother, Andrew G. Armijo; maternal grandparents; Linda and Lauren Tapps; paternal grandparents, Graciel and Gilbert Armijo; aunts, Vivian Garcia, Juanita Dunn, Tish Sena, Lynda Armijo and Summer Hunter; uncles, James Garcia, Jim Dunn, Ed Sena, Alfred Armijo and Bill Sena; and his two pets, Oscar and Buddy; numerous cousins; friends and their families. He is preceded in death by his uncles, Albert A. Armijo and Fermin Armijo; great-uncle, Doug Tapps; and his beloved dog, Boo.
Aaron was the oldest son of Gilbert and Kristy Armijo. He was born on August 7, 1996 at 6:23 am in Albuquerque, NM.
He attended Rio Rancho Elementary where he met his good friend, Angelo. He played some sports and played the piano. He later attended Lincoln Middle School and Rio Rancho High School, where he was part of the choir. He made many new friends especially Walt, and touched so many people with his determination, will to live, and his beautiful smile. He was the Baseball coach for Cibola Little League and the basketball coach for the Rio Rancho Parks and Rec Elementary school kids. He received a 4- year letterman as the basketball manager for the Rio Rancho High School Rams. In 2015, he graduated from Rio Rancho High School.
Aaron sold the paper for three summers for the Journal. He was an MDA Ambassador for 2 years. An Ambassador for Children’s Outdoor Foundation for 3 years where Rob and Lise Holloway would take him fishing, antelope and elk hunting. He assisted with Proview commentators for one summer. He was the video coordinator for the Rio Rancho Rams boys basketball team and he did the play by play for YAFL football.
Aaron had a passion for sports and cherished watching them, especially the Patriots, Yankees, Isotopes and Lobos. He also loved going to museums, being outdoors, computer technology, and spending time with his family whom he loved dearly.
