Abel Garcia

Age 86, passed away Wednesday, June 16, 2021. He was born in Los Ranchos, NM on May 5, 1935, to Graviel and Elvira  Lucero. Abel attended Albuquerque High School and served three years in the U.S. Army as a Specialist Private 3rd Class Technician during which he received the Good Conduct Medal.  Abel married Lucille Velasquez October 14, 1961 at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Albuquerque, NM. Abel and Lucille spent 59 years together with two children of their own, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Abel worked as a truck driver for the Teamsters Union up until the time he retired. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Grabiel Garcia, mother, Elvira Lucero and six brothers. Abel  is survived by wife, Lucille  Garcia of Los Ranchos, NM, son, Stephan  Garcia of Lonetree, CO, daughter, Cynthia Garcia of Los Ranchos, NM, his five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. The family would like to issue a special thank you to Compassus Hospice Care, especially to Eric and Rita for the most compassionate care. 

Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 28, 2021, 10:00 am, at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM.
