Adela Gonzales, beloved by all who were fortunate to know her, left us on May 18, 2015 at age 87 to rejoin her husband, Cornelio R. Gonzales; her brother, Raymond Sandoval; her sons: Rudy, Sonny, Andy, and Joe; her grandchildren, Gregory Sena and Rachel Encinias in heaven. Born in Jemez Springs to Moises and Maria Sandoval. She had a 65 year marriage to Cornelio and raised five sons and two daughters. After their retirement, Adela and Cornelio returned to their beloved Jemez Springs and had their home built along the Jemez River near many of her siblings and their families. A woman of petite stature, Adela had a great, big heart for family and strangers alike. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought great joy to her throughout her life. The twinkle in her eyes was never brighter than when a young child was placed into her arms. That twinkle and her shy smile will never be forgotten. Her loving nature will forever be missed! Adela is survived by her sisters: Emma Manzanares and Julia Carpenter (Tom); her brothers: Gilbert (Jennie), Johnny (Jennie), and Robert (Theresa). She also leaves behind her beloved children: Mike and Flora Gonzales, Margie and Barry Levine, Mary and Pat Encinias, Judy Gonzales (widow of Sonny); grandchildren: Isaaca Jordan, Lisa Gallegos, Alicia Gonzales, Moises Gonzales, Michelle Dixon, Amy Levine, Antoinette Gonzales, Gabriel Sena, and Patrick Encinias; great-grandchildren: Mya, Nina, Angel, Heavenly, Isaiah, Joseph, Gavin, Jacob, Ashley, Annabelle, Greg, Gaby, and Lynnae. A Visitation will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, May 22, 2015, a Rosary will be recited at 10:00 a.m., and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at Mary, Mother of Priest Catholic Church in Jemez Springs, NM. Interment to follow at Jemez Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Moises Gonzales, Patrick Encinias, Jacob Salas, Gabriel Sena, Joseph Dixon, Isaiah Gonzales; Honorary Pallbearer will be Michael Tolleson. There will be a reception in Jemez Springs.
