Adelio Gallegos

Adelio “Pops” Gallegos age 77, passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2025 surrounded by family. He left this earth the way he lived his life, quietly with a sly grin on his face. 

He was born on July 16, 1947 to Ramon Gallegos and Marcelina Martinez in La Sacatosa, NM. 

He was a carpenter, building bridges throughout New Mexico. He took great pride in the fact that there wasn't a bridge in New Mexico he hadn't had a hand in building. He worked at Intel for a number of years. After he retired, he worked grounds at Twin Warrior Golf Course. He loved this job, as he could enjoy our beautiful New Mexico sunrises. 

He is preceded in death by his parents Ramon and Marcelina Gallegos; brothers: Isidro, Rosalio, Lorenzo, Manny, Vincent, and Reyes; daughter Rachael Gallegos and son Don Gallegos. 

He is survived by his loving wife Geraldine Gallegos of the family home; daughter: Margaret Gallegos and husband Manny, son: Adelio Gallegos Jr; grandchildren: Rachel Baca and husband Lucas, Marcos Mendez, Gabriel Mendez and Angel Gallegos; sisters: Toni Gallegos (Eduardo) of Albuquerque, NM , Cleo Gonzales (Matthew) of Gonzales Ranch, NM and Irene Gonzales (Jesse) of Portales, NM; brothers: Henry Gallegos (Lugi) of Albuquerque, NM, Jerry Gallegos of Belen, NM, Ramon Gallegos (Vickie) of Vallito de Piedra, Ruben Gallegos (Josie) of Villanueva, NM, Watts Gallegos (Hinni) of La Sacatosa, NM, Louis Gallegos (Holly) of Vallito de Piedra and George Gallegos of Gonzales Ranch, NM; sister-in-law: Beatrice Lopez (Jake) of Portales, NM; brothers-in-law: Arsenio Montoya Jr. of Artesia, NM, David Montoya (Cecilia) of Portales, NM, Rudy Montoya (Imelda) of Odessa, TX, Robert Montoya (Lupe), Joe Montoya, Mike Montoya of Portales, NM; numerous: nieces, nephews, step grandchildren (Del, Zac, and Noah) other cherished relatives and many friends. 

Memorial service will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Rio Rancho on Monday, March 24, 2025: viewing at 9:00 AM, rosary at 10:00 AM, funeral mass at 10:30 AM. Interment will be held at Sena Cemetery in Sena, NM with the following serving as Pallbearers: Marcos Mendez, Lucas Baca, Manuel Archuleta, Dennis Lopez, Louis Gallegos, and Jerry Gallegos. Honorary Pallbearers will be the remainder his brothers and brothers in law.
