RIO RANCHO – Agnes Van Bastian passed from this life peacefully on February 27, 2021. She was 87.
Aggie was born in Geneseo, Illinois, to Leila and Howard Little on October 23, 1933. She married Theodore Van Bastian on September 5, 1953, and they raised six children together. In 1972, the family moved to Rio Rancho, New Mexico, where Aggie and Ted made their home and lived the rest of their lives.
Aggie was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and enjoyed visiting with her family and friends. She loved to read and was a whiz at doing crossword puzzles! She also loved eating out, attending plays at the Albuquerque Little Theatre, and watching golf.
During her lifetime, Aggie made over 30 trips around the world with friends and family. She also belonged to several area clubs, including Red Hats, the Women’s Club, and Naomi’s group through church. Aggie made many close friends along the way, and remembered them all very fondly.
Aggie was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Van Bastian, two of her children, Tina LaCarrubba and Ted Van Bastian Jr., and her brother, James Little.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter Cheryl Sharp, and her children Cami Sharp, TJ Sharp and his wife Molly, and Traci Storlie and her husband David; her daughter Beth Lane and her husband Jim, and their children Joshua, Taylor, Jimmy, and Carson and his wife Felicia; her daughter Linda Cooner and her husband, Mike; and her son Steven Van Bastian and his wife Beverly, and their children Brandon and his wife Amy, Tyler, and Levi. Also surviving her are 8 great-grandchildren, Rowan Sharp, Henry and Teddy Storlie, Evan Lane, CJ and Hailey Lane, and Grace and Kaylin Van Bastian.
