Tanaka, Akira Age 86, passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2013. He was born in San Diego, CA on August 18, 1927, to Kotaro and Masuye Tanaka (Kinoshita). He was a tool and die engineer and worked several years in the Chicago area prior to moving to the west coast, initially in the LA area and later to Olympia, WA before settling in Rio Rancho, NM. Akira loved to fish. In his younger years he went ocean fishing with his dad prior to taking up fresh water fishing in the Midwest. He then went back to ocean fishing where he landed a Marlin while fishing in Cabo. Akira also enjoyed golfing and went as much as possible while living in the Olympia and Rio Rancho areas. He enjoyed rock hunting and Lapidary activities throughout the US. He also enjoyed gardening and building things from scratch, including the family's dining room, garage and basement at their home in the Chicago suburbs. We will miss all the knowledge he had and all that goes with him.
