Alejandro Niera, III

August 24, 1950 — October 29, 2019

Alejandro "Alex" Neira, III, age 69, passed away October 29, 2019 in Albuquerque, NM.  He was born August 24th, 1950 to Alejandro J. and Antonia Neira, in Laredo, Texas.  He graduated from Oakland High School in 1969, and went on to attend college at the College of Alameda, University of California, Berkeley, Laney College and Palmer College of Chiropractic, where he received his degree in Chiropractic Medicine in 1986.  Alex served in the United States Navy from 1970-1976, as a Hospital Corpsman, Third Class, during Vietnam.  He married Darlene M. VanAntwerp in 1989.   He loved racquetball, jogging, and baseball.   He was an Athletic Trainer for the Oakland A's from 1968-1970.  He participated in Doctors Without Borders in Somalia, Africa and was a member of the American Legion and Lions Club.

He was preceded in death by his brother, George Neira and his father, Alejandro J. Neira, II.

He is survived by his loving wife, Darlene Neira; son, Austin Neira; daughter, Marina Neira; sister, Mouzelle Neira; brother, Gerald Neira; sister, Rosalinda Plasencia; brother, John Neira; sister, Margarita Neira; sister, Virginia Ramirez; brother, Jose "Joey" Neira; sister, Antonia Neira; and his mother, Antonia Neira.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 9, 2019, Daniels Family Funeral Services~Sara Chapel, 4310 Sara Rd. SE, Rio Rancho, New Mexico 87124.  Interment will be at Santa Fe National Cemetery, on Friday, December 6, 2019 at 1:30 p.m.
