LC Alejandro J. Yazzie With heavy hearts we will celebrate the life of Lance Cpl. Alejandro J. Yazzie (combat engineer) on February 26, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. at the Farmington Civic Center. Alejandro was born on April 13, 1986 in Chinle, Arizona. He graduated from Rock Point High School in 2004 and entered the military on September 15, 2008 where he completed basic training at Camp Pendleton. On July 27, 2009 he married Kalandra Roanhorse Yazzie. His first duty station was Camp Lejeune, then an overseas tour in Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 1st Combat Engineer Battalion, 1st Marine Division, 1 Marine Expeditionary Force in Camp Pendleton, California and was currently deployed in Afghanistan. He leaves behind his wife, Kalandra Yazzie and unborn child; parents Eva R. Yazzie and father, Johnson Yazzie both of Rock Point, Arizona; brothers, Ferlando, Chance and Rodelo; sister, Rayona; mother-in-law and father-n-law Donna and Elvin Roanhorse as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Alejandro loved life and his ultimate favorite pastimes were football, rodeo, target practice, hiking, picking on his sisters, making jokes, barbecuing outside and being around his brothers. He wanted nothing more than to be a Marine and to serve his country. Lance Cpl. Alejandro J. Yazzie will be greatly missed by his family, friends and those who were near and dear to him. Interment will be in Sweetwater, AZ with full military honors where his childhood memories lay. Reception will follow at the Rock Point High School Cafeteria.
