Ulibarri, Alex C.
Age 94, passed away Thursday, February 9, 2017. He was born in Polvadera, NM on February 4, 1923, to Eliseo Ulibarri and Luz Chavez Ulibarri. Alex proudly served in the US Army from 1943 to 1946. He received a certificate of appreciation from the French Secretary for Veteran Affairs and the President of Base Normandy Region for taking part in the Normandy Landing and for the liberation of France. Alex was a member of the local DAV and American Legion. Alex was a strong Republican, he enjoyed participating in political discussions. He served as precinct chairman and on the State Central Committee. He enjoyed going to the Governor's Mansion with his friend, the late Marcos Gonzales during the time that Governor Dave Cargo was in office. He retired from Middle Rio Grande Conservancy District. Alex was a people person, and was well known for morning coffee and conversation at McDonalds and the El Camino with his friends. He loved to dance and enjoyed spending time with all of his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Manuel Ulibarri, Santiago Ulibarri and Candido Ulibarri.
Alex is survived by his wife of 66 years Jennie Padilla Ulibarri; his son, Milton Ulibarri and wife Elena; granddaughters, Donna Ulibarri-Peralta and husband Gilbert and Lisa Ulibarri Hatlen and husband Scott; great-grandchildren, Alex Ulibarri Peralta, Andri Ulibarri Peralta and Santino Hatlen; his brother, Jacinto Ulibarri and many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 14, 2017, at 9:00 am at San Miguel Catholic Church, 403 El Camino Real, Socorro. Celebrant Father John Anasiudu. Burial will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at 3:00 pm.
