Alfred Montoya

Montoya, Alfred Age 88, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, was embraced by the Lord and taken to his heavenly home, Thursday, February 21, 2013. He was life long resident of Los Lunas, NM, where he was a member of the Catholic Community. He was a former employee of Sandia National Laboratory. Alfred was a proud Veteran of the United States Army who served his country during World War II. He received two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Service Arrowhead. He is a member of the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor and is a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Alfred enjoyed going to the flea markets and working with ceramics. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas and Candelaria Montoya; grandson, Brian Anzures, granddaughter, Annette Olguin; great-grandson, Truman Woods; brothers, Nestor, Ruben and Henry Montoya; and sister, Dora Vaisa. Alfred is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Katherine Montoya; his children, Cathy Gonzales and husband Herman, Theresa Lujan and husband George, Esperanza Olguin and Art, Berna Vallejos, Rudy Montoya and wife Patty, and Mark Montoya; his step-daughters, Linda Lewis of Marietta, GA, Juanita Clark and husband Ed of Tucson, AZ; 19 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Herman Montoya, Senovio Montoya; his sisters, Henrietta Moreno, Mary Castillo, Benita Piro and Connie Chavez; and many other relatives and friends. Alfred will be greatly missed by his loving family and by those whose hearts he touched. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 26, 2013 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at San Clemente Catholic Church, 259 Don Diego NE, in Los Lunas, NM, where a Rosary will be recited at 4:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at 12:30 p.m. at the Church of the Incarnation, 2309 Monterrey Rd., NE, in Rio Rancho, NM. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. Casket Bearers will be Andy Anzures, Keith Tompson, James Vallejos, Brian Anzures, Taylor Montoya and Michael Clark. Honorary Bearer will be Jeffrey Lewis. Honorably escorting Alfred to his final resting place will be the Patriot Guard Riders. Military Honors will be accorded by the Santa Fe Chapter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Honor Guard. At the family's request, in lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, Alzheimer's Association or San Clemente Catholic Church in Los Lunas, NM.
