Alfredo Pena

Pena, Alfredo "Fred" Age 84, beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed away peacefully, Monday, December 17, 2012, while surrounded by his loving family. He was born in San Mateo, NM and was a resident of Albuquerque, NM. Fred was a proud Veteran of the United States Navy. Fred retired from Sandia Laboratories. He enjoyed the casino and football, but was NOT a Dallas Cowboys fan. Fred dedicated his life to loving and caring for his family and home. He will fondly be remembered as the family jokester. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rafael and Rosita Pena; sisters, Minnie Pawlik, Nora Sandoval, Rose Gallegos; and brothers, Ralph and Joe Pena. Alfredo is survived by loving wife, Viola G. Pena; his children, Alfred P. Pena, Marga Sedillo, Sharon Norris and husband Tom; step-son, Carl Olona and wife Arlene; step-daughter, Theresa Chavez and husband James; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Margaret Garcia and Frieda Salazar; many other relatives and friends. Fred will be greatly missed by all. Visitation will be Friday, December 21, 2012 from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. at St. Joseph on the Rio Grande Catholic Church, 5901 St. Joseph Dr., NW, where a rosary will be recited at 8:00 a.m. and followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Alfred P. Pena, Scott Norris, Tracy Norris, Adam Chavez, Andy Perez, Manuel Parra, Victor Varela and Joey Gutierrez. Honorary bearers will include Fred's 24 great-grandchildren along with Larry Espalin, Greg Garcia and Kenny Harding. The family extends a cordial invitation to those attending the services for Mr. Pena to join them after the services for a meal and fellowship at his granddaughter's home, Crystal L. Ortega and husband Tom, 2304 Wildstream Street NW, Albuquerque, NM 87120.
