Alma “Pearl” Giles, 85, a resident of Albuquerque for 63 years, died on Wednesday, February 10, 2016, from a systemic infection.
Pearl is survived by her daughter, Carey Fullem, and husband, Paul Fullem of San Antonio, Texas; her son, Steven Giles, and wife Dr. Dana Giles of Albuquerque; granddaughter Candace Cooper; granddaughter Tiffany Dow, and husband Frank Dow; and was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Cleavord Giles, and their daughter Linda Zettel.
Pearl was born in Hilltop, Oklahoma, growing up in Oklahoma, and attending one year of high school in Oakland, California. After completing business school in Oklahoma City, she worked as a secretary at Sandia Corporation in 1952, leaving in 1953 to raise her children. Pearl volunteered for several agencies, worked as a court transcriptionist, served as PTA president, and was as a den mother for the cub scouts. Pearl was an avid tennis player, with her team repeatedly reaching regional playoff status. She enjoyed playing bridge with her friends over many years.
Final interment will be at Santa Fe National Cemetery with a graveside service to be held on Wednesday, February 17, 2016, at 1:30 PM.
