Chavez-Vigil, Amalia "Molly" Age 88, passed away Thursday, November 29, 2012 in Albuquerque, NM. She was born in Ojo Feliz, NM on January 25, 1924, to Jose and Hilaria (Montoya) Chavez. Amalia married Miguel Vigil on September 18, 1937 at St. Gertrude Church in Mora, New Mexico. She was a life long parishioner at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Springer, New Mexico. Amalia worked for many years at the Philmont Scout Ranch Villa Philmont and after retirement was the babysitter for many of Miami's young parents and as such was called grandma by many children growing up in Miami, where she lived for 65 years. She enjoyed babysitting, working in her garden sewing, knitting, embroidering and crocheting. Amalia was very instrumental in the establishment of the Miami Volunteer Fire Department. She was preceded in death by her parents Jose and Hilaria Chavez; husband, Miguel Vigil; sister, Maclovia Sanchez. Amalia is survived by sister Rosie Vigil; brother, Levi Chavez; son, Henry (Patricia) Vigil; son, Mike (Alice) Vigil; son, Jake (Mary Alice) Vigil; son, Tony (Josephine) Vigil; son, John (Juanita) Vigil; grandchildren, Monica, Michael, Daniel, Andrew, Frances, Marie, Victor, Victoria, Theresa, Thomas, Dominic, Hillary, Rafael and numerous great grandchildren. Viewing will be held, Sunday December 2, 2012 at 1:00 PM. with recitation of the Most Holy Rosary at 2:00 PM, Daniels Family Funeral Services Wyoming Chapel. Burial Services will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Springer, NM on December 4, 2012 with the Most Holy Rosary at 10:30 AM followed by the Solemn Mass of the Resurrection at 11:00 AM with Father Emmanuel Izuka as the celebrant. Rite of Committal will follow at the Springer Cemetery. Pallbearers are her grandsons; Michael, Daniel, Andrew, Victor, Thomas, Dominic and Rafael.
