Baxman-Cox, Amanda “Mandy”
Amanda “Mandy” Baxman-Cox, age 70, died June 9, 2015. Amanda was born January 24, 1945 in Ithaca, NY to Horace Roy and Claire Irene (Green) Baxman. As her health permitted, she enjoyed playing tennis, pickleball and traveling. Mandy had a love and flair for arts and crafts and used her creative spirit to make a wide variety of things including pottery, jewelry and clothing. For several years, Mandy lived in Coos Bay, OR. While there, she worked at the Crowley Tugboat Company which is where she met the man who later was to become her husband, Forrest Cox. In the early 1990’s, Mandy and Forrest moved to Rio Rancho, NM. After their move to Rio Rancho, Mandy continued making and selling pottery and later worked for JC Penny until she retired. Mandy was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her sister Sharon. She is survived by her sister, Judith Giarratana and husband Duane; her brother Skip Baxman and wife Marla; nephew, Shawn Baxman; niece, Susan Reynolds and her long-time friend, Julie Mince. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, July 10, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at New Life Church, 2701 American Rd SE, Rio Rancho, NM. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Amanda to Storehouse West, 1030-F Veranda Dr. SE, Rio Rancho, NM 87124.
