Andrew "Andy" J. Chavez

Andrew "Andy" J. Chavez, age 64, left this life on Sunday, December 8, 2013. He was born in Gallup, NM on June 23, 1949, to Abran and Rosina Chavez. Andy will be remembered for his tremendous love for God and the people in his life. He was extremely generous with all and had a great sense of humor. Uppermost, he had a deep faith and love for the Gospel message of Jesus Christ. He always said, "Never be ashamed of the Gospel; people need to hear that Jesus is the only way back to God." His family of origin resides in Albuquerque and Gallup, NM. Andy was the oldest of five sons. Two brothers preceded him in death, Alfonso and Manuel. Andy is survived by his brothers, Robert, and wife Lenore, Abran Jr., "Abe," and wife Lizzie; sister-in-law, Elisa. He was the very best of brothers and taught the family to stay connected, to love each other and be generous to one another. Andy was a remarkable son to his parents who cared and provided for them in every way possible all through his life. Andy had 19 nephews and nieces, Steve (JoAnna), Eric (Lupita), Fredy (Monica), Dallana (Michael), Analisa, Markos (Charity), Tana, Alyssa (Chris), Dianna, Marta (John), Celina and Celia; and 17 grand-nephews and nieces. Andy will be greatly missed by all. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, December 13, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Albuquerque Bible Church, 320 Montano NW, Albuquerque. Inurnment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:15 p.m. Military Honors will be accorded by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2951 Honor Guard. At the family's request, in lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be given to Joy Junction, 320 Gold Ave., SW, Albuquerque, NM 87102.
