Angela Strempek

July 16, 1926 — December 27, 2015

Angela Granatino Strempek was born in New York City, NY July 16. Preceded in death by her  husband Ralph J. Strempek, survived by her children: Woody Shank and his wife Shirley of Abilene, TX; Deborah Sanderson and her husband Gary of Grandview, TX, Lyn Lamanna of Syracuse NY, and Gina Monteith and her husband Wayne of Melbourne, FL; her grandchildren: Alice Jones, Travis Jones, John Jones, Raylee Jones, Angela LaManna, Justin LaManna, Ian Monteith, Erica Monteith, Brian Hefner, Craig Hefner, who preceded her in death, Larry Hefner, Junior, and Belinda Perez; her nine great and twelve great great grandchildren.  She is also survived by her companion of many years, James Webb. Angela met Ralph in Roswell, NM and they were married on February 14, 1957.  Angela and Ralph moved to Albuquerque in 1964 and Angela worked for Welcome Wagon in those early years.  She was also a member of the Newcomer’s Club where she met many dear friends, including her best friend Frances Henslee.  Angela was a bridge life master and played in the Albuquerque Duplicate Bridge group for many years.  Additionally she played bridge several times a week with smaller groups composed of friends.   Angela always loved dancing, from her days in the USO and more recently as an active member of the Solo Club. She volunteered for many years at the UNM Hospital in their gift shop. She was active over the years in many different volunteer groups including Friends of the Albuquerque Little Theater, Chi Omega Mother’s Group, All Faiths Receiving Home, Casa Angelica and the Auxiliary of American Legion Post 99. Memorial donations may be made to Casa Angelica or to the Alzheimer’s Association. Inurnment will be held at Santa Fe National Cemetery with her husband Ralph J. Strempek.   Many thanks to Beehive Village Memory Care Unit C for their exceptional and loving care of Angela.
