Perno, Angelo
PERNO, Angelo “Pop-Pop” passed away peacefully June 25, 2015 in Albuquerque, NM. Angelo was born October 14, 1928 in Tufino, Italy to Nicola and Anna (Pignatelli) Perno. His family immigrated to the United States by way of Ellis Island in New York City when he was a baby. Following high school, Angelo served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He returned to Queens where he attended barber school and married Christina, his wife of 44 years. They moved to Port Jefferson Station, NY in 1960. In 1974, Angelo packed up his family and headed to Rio Rancho, New Mexico. While here in New Mexico, Angelo continued his barber profession, worked at GTE Lenkurt and GE Aircraft until his retirement. After his retirement, Angelo worked part-time at Hometown Buffet where he continued to meet people and share his wonderful sense of humor. Angelo was loved by everyone who met him. Angelo was preceded in death by his wife, Christina “Nana” in 1997. He is survived by his children: Donna Sullivan and husband, Larry, Tony Perno and wife Debora, Anna Dosch, Chrissy Pease and husband Rob, Lisa Rutgers, and Elena Kemp and husband, Tony; nine grandchildren: Anthony, Sean, Brent, Christina, Jeremiah, Zachary, Jacob, Mia, and Tony; and one great grandson, Lucas. He is also survived by two sisters, Josie of Queens, NY and Ann of Las Vegas, NV.
