Angelo J. Rich Jr

September 15, 1938 — February 5, 2017

Angelo Joseph Rich, 78, passed away with his loving family at his side on Sunday, February 5, 2017, returning to his celestial heavenly home.  Angelo was a resident of Albuquerque, NM for most of his life. Angelo was born on September 15, 1938 in Albuquerque, NM, to Angelo J. Rich Sr. and wife Mary Ellen Chacon Rich.  As a boy Angelo enjoyed hunting, camping, and fishing with siblings and later with his sons and daughters.  Country music and dancing was a favorite pastime for Angelo.  In addition, he loved horse racing, owned a race horse, was an avid pool player and competed in pool tournaments locally. In his later years he simply enjoyed long naps, good food, and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.
As a ladies’ man, Angelo loved many women.  After graduating from Highland High School, he married Charmayne Helen Ganzhorn.  Together, Angelo and Charmayne had two children, Paula Sue and Randell Lee Rich.  At the age of nineteen, Angelo started a business, Rich Painting Company, and was the youngest person at that time to receive a contracting license.
Angelo later married his second wife Sharon Leeann Speck, and together they had two children Michael Angelo and Caryn Rhea Rich.  He continued his Painting and Contracting business in Albuquerque and Los Alamos, NM.  Eventually, Angelo obtained a position with Sandia National Laboratory in Albuquerque, NM and Los Alamos National Laboratory as a Security and Safety Contracting Supervisor.  There were other women Angelo loved; he was married to Dee Rich for a brief time though they had a relationship for many years prior. Angelo had a long standing friendship and love with his dear companion, Shirley Hughes.
Angelo is preceded in death by his parents Mary Rich and Angelo Rich Sr., his brother Robert Rich, 2nd wife Sharon Heinsma, 3rd wife Dee Rich, son Randell Lee Rich and nephew Johnny Rich.  Angelo is survived by his siblings Mike, John, Rose Chavez and Jack. Angelo is survived by his children Paula Rich-Greenwood, Michael (Miguel) and spouse Carrie, Caryn Wilson and spouse David; his grandchildren Cori Duran and spouse Bob, twins Grace and Hannah Wilson, Ryan & Sierra Rose Rich; great grandchildren Alex & Desirae Duran; niece Debbie Jamison and spouse and children, Arleen Rich and son Andrew, Laralea and spouse Jeremiah Hatley and son Thaddeus, Tina Rich; nephews Curtis Rich and spouse Mona and children, Martin Chavez, Brian Rich, and great niece Alicia Chavez and son Zane.
Thank you all who offered Angelo your love and support this past month during this unexpected illness and hospitalization. He was informed about each and every one of you who wished him well and prayed for him. He was deeply touched and felt truly loved.
