Anita (Montoya) Lopez, Age 88 entered peacefully into paradise on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 in Socorro, NM surrounded by her devoted and loving family. Anita was born on February 10, 1929, in Socorro, NM to Frank and Avelina (Marquez) Montoya. Anita was preceded in death by her loving parents, her beloved husband; Tranquilino (Trinky) Lopez, her dear son Tranquilino (Trinky) Lopez Jr., and her special son-in-law Chris Scarborough Sr., brother Arturo Montoya, her sisters; Rose Lopez, Domie Montoya, Barbara Montoya-Lysen, and Frances Montoya. Anita was an honored and lifelong resident of Socorro. She was a faithful servant of God with a tender and giving heart. She enjoyed being in God's presence during the many memorable family camping trips, and was entertained with Trinky as he watched and supported his favorite sport teams. Anita loved her flowers and tending to her garden, and restoring antiques. She loved to cook, quilt and sew as well as finding treasures at yard sales. Anita's family was her passion and encouragement, they filled her heart with the joy and peace that motivated her spirit, and she will always be remembered by her contagious giggle. Anita is survived by her adoring children, her son, Christopher Lopez and wife, Lori; and daughter and best friend, Genevieve Scarborough; her grandchildren, Austin and Ashley Lopez, Candace (Eric) and Chris Scarborough Jr. and wife Melissa; great grandchildren, Cee, Cenyon, Cruz and Cennedy Scarborough; her sisters; Refugia Romero and Marcella Garcia and numerous loving family members. The Holy Rosary will be recited on Monday, June 26, 2017 at 8:30 am at the Old San Miguel Mission Catholic Church, 403 El Camino Real, Socorro, NM with the celebration of the Mass of the Resurrection to follow at 9:00 am. With Celebrant Father John Anasiudu. Interment will take place at the San Miguel Catholic Cemetery following services. Pallbearers are Austin Lopez, Nicky Romero, Chris Scarborough Jr., Chris Scarborough III, Lorenzo Apodaca and Eric Vargas.
