It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Anita Ulibarri on March 21, 2024, after a courageous battle with liver cancer. She passed away peacefully in the presence of her daughter and son-in-law. Originally from Bakersfield, California, Anita spent much of her adult life in Belen and Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Anita's legacy is defined by her grace, elegance, and renowned talent for baking award-winning pies, which brought joy and beauty into the lives of those around her. Her warm and inviting demeanor was reflected in her love for gathering friends and family, fostering a sense of togetherness and happiness wherever she went.
Anita's dedication and talent were truly commendable during her extensive career as a paralegal at the United States Attorney's Office, spanning over two decades. Her expertise and diligence on numerous high-profile cases highlighted her exceptional skills and unwavering commitment to upholding justice. Anita's significant contributions have left a lasting impact in the legal field, and her legacy of hard work and professionalism will be fondly remembered by her colleagues.
Anita's professional accomplishments, though remarkable, pale in comparison to the roles she treasured most: Mom and Nana. Her daughter, Anna, was the source of immeasurable joy in her life, and Anita's unwavering devotion ensured the happiness and well-being of her family. Her love for her grandchildren, Tommy "TT" Tolliver and Joshua "Joshy" Tolliver, knew no bounds.
Even in retirement, Anita embraced the responsibility of caring for Tommy, making sure he got to school on time and creating cherished moments, such as watching Marvel movies together. Playing water games in the backyard with Joshy and creating a cozy space for him to watch his favorite TV shows are just a few examples of the special moments they shared. Anita's generosity and care for others remained steadfast even throughout her battle with cancer, as she continued to be present and involved in the lives of her loved ones.
After her passing, a somber quiet fell upon all who knew her, yet there is comfort in envisioning her now resting peacefully in the eternal embrace of the Lord. Anita's legacy of boundless love and enduring compassion will be forever treasured by her family and friends.
In death, Anita is reunited with her beloved father, Carlos E. Chavez, her mother Felicia L. Chavez, and her brother, Carlos “Chacho” Chavez. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Anna Maria Tolliver, her son-in-law, Dennis Eric Tolliver Jr., her grandchildren, Thomas "TT" Carlos-Meliton Tolliver, and Joshua "Joshy" Leo Tolliver, along with a host of other cherished family members and friends.
Honorary pallbearers who will carry Anita to her final resting place are Eric Tolliver, Thomas Tolliver, Joshua Tolliver, Kyle Tolliver, Hastin Chavez, Ron Messimer and Eric Fennell.
