Anna Cheser life story
Anna Grace (Gass) Cheser, age 95, passed away October 14, 2016 in Albuquerque, NM. Anna was born March 22, 1921 in Brooklyn, NY. Due to some complex family relationships, Anna, also called by “Ann”, had a painful childhood. She did not become bitter because of the difficult times; instead, she focused her energy on helping care for her elder sister, Rita. As a result, Anna and Rita stayed close as sisters and friends their entire lives.
Ann named her youngest daughter after her sister, Rita in honor of her. Ann also had two daughters whom she adored and who adored her too! Ann would only accept jobs that allowed her to be home when her girls came home from school. She gave her love generously and without question. They built many memories and shared lots of laughs during those times. Their friendship and love was very evident. She moved to New Mexico 1976 and were married Hal in 1977. They were so happy together. Her daughter, Rita remembers hearing Hal and Ann often saying to each other “I love you” followed by a kiss. After Hal’s death in 2011, Ann moved in with her daughter, Rita. Rita and her mom would go every Saturday at 7 a.m. to go “garage-sales”; then, go to lunch and be home by 2 p.m. when they lived near each other. Her other beloved daughter, Grace, would call regularly and her wonderful granddaughter, Tara, also called and visited often. During these later years; while living with Rita, Ann smiled often, loved deeply and made a point to laugh with Rita every day. They have been good years! Rita will remember her mom for her easy smile, her undying love and her unconditional acceptance. That will be engraved on Rita’s heart forever. Rita considered it an honor to be her mother’s caretaker these last years. Ann is survived by her two daughters, Rita Hubbs of Albuquerque and Grace Heyns of Spring Hill, Florida. Ann’s urn will be joined with Hal’s at a private interment at Santa Fe National Cemetery. A Celebration of Anna’s life will take place at Rita’s home on Sunday, November 6, 2016 at 2 p.m. Wear bright, cheerful clothes and a smile! Ann would like that very much.
