Anne M. LaZar, a cherished soul born on October 15, 1930, in Brooklyn, NY, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2024, in Rio Rancho, NM. Known for her unwavering spirit and devotion, Anne touched the lives of all who knew her.
A graduate of Bishop McDonnell High School in 1949, Anne dedicated her career to the Nassau County payroll department, where she served with distinction before retiring and relocating to sunny Rio Rancho in 1996. This transition marked the beginning of a fulfilling chapter in her life.
Dearest to Anne were her family and friends. She leaves behind her beloved nieces—Patricia Sigler of Massapequa, NY; Jacque (Mike) Boothe of Georgetown, TX; Peggy Spaulding of Bristol, VT; Bonnie (John) Micciche of Smithtown, NY; and Betty (Henry) Vargas of Rio Rancho, NM. Her legacy also extends to 11 treasured great nieces and nephews, as well as 16 loved great-great nieces and nephews. Anne's warmth and kindness also reached many loving friends who will deeply miss her presence.
Throughout her life, Anne cherished the time spent with her loved ones, especially gathered around a good meal. An avid reader and traveler, Anne embraced life with a curiosity and joy that inspired those around her. Her faith was central to her being; she was a devout Roman Catholic and an active member of the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, contributing to the Rosary Society and participating in Eucharistic Adoration.
Anne is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Elizabeth and Frederick LaZar; her sister, Elizabeth Massaro; and her two infant brothers, Frederick William.
As we gather to honor Anne's remarkable life, we find comfort in the many memories shared. Services will be held October 4, 2024, beginning with Recitation of the Rosary, 10:00 AM, St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 1502 Sara Rd, Rio Rancho, NM. Mass will be celebrated from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM, followed by a reception in the parish hall.
