Age 45, loving, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend went home to be with our Lord and Savior Monday, March 12, 2012. He was born to Leo and Rose. Anthony adored his family and loved spending time with them, he enjoyed fishing and playing poker. He was preceded in death by his father, Leo Contreras and sister, Renee Contreras. Anthony is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Caroline Valdez; mother, Rose Ortega-Salas; sons, Anthony Contreras Jr., and fiance Jeanette Mares and Angel Valdez; one daughter, Michelle Valdez and fiance Floyd Armijo Jr.; grandchildren, Jayla Contreras and Elijah Armijo; sisters, Jeanette Mares and husband John, Christine Sisneros and husband James; one brother, Andy Velarde Jr., aunt Carmen and uncle Elias Montano and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. Anthony will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. A Visitation will take place at Garcia Mortuary in the Chapel of Angles today, Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at 5:00 pm followed by a reciting of the Rosary at 6:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at San Jose Catholic Church, 2401 Broadway SE, tomorrow Thursday, March 15, 2012 at 10:00 am; Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
