Anthony “Tony” Vasquez was born on October 27, 1985, he passed away peacefully in his home on March 4, 2025.
Tony grew up in Santa Fe, NM, where he began his love for sports. In high school, Tony developed an interest in cheerleading which later carried on into his time as a UNM college student. Tony eventually transitioned into the role as a Cheer and Tumbling Coach. He coached the co-ed team at ICC in Kansas, the all-girl team at UNM and tumbling at Rio Elite. Throughout his cheerleading career he played an integral part in the cheerleading community. He made an impact on the younger generation of athletes looking to further their skill, ability and knowledge of the sport.
Tony loved spending time with his family and friends (given and chosen) His unique laugh was always contagious. He had the greatest sense of humor and a nickname for everyone who knew him. Tony was an amazing brother, uncle, mentor and friend to so many people. His laugh, his smile and his passion for coaching will live forever in our hearts. His presence in our lives was a gift and he will forever be remembered.
Tony is survived by his sister Angelica (Curt), his brother Martin (Lexi), his nieces and nephews: Kaileylyn, Delainey, Jaxen and Colton. He was preceded in death by his mother Sandy Ruiz, his Aunt Rose and his grandparents.
