Antonia Apodaca was born on June 13, 1934, in Corrales, NM. Her journey through life came to a peaceful close on July 4, 2024, in Albuquerque, NM. Throughout her life, Toni touched the hearts of many with her gentle demeanor and unwavering kindness. Her presence illuminated the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
One cannot think of Antonia without remembering the sweet sound of her whistling while skillfully making tortillas – a cherished memory that will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved her. In her younger years, she found joy in gardening and canning, passions that evolved into coloring, journaling, word searches, and arts and crafts as she embraced each new chapter of her life.
Toni was a woman of strength and resilience, weathering life's challenges with grace and courage. She was a pillar of love and support for her family and friends.
Antonia was preceded in death by her parents, Trancito and Delphina Maestas, as well as her loving devoted husband of 65 years, Cassimiro Apodaca, and her beloved son Johnny Dean Apodaca.
In honoring Antonia's memory today are her loving daughters: Esther Gurule, Consuelo and husband Pat Lucero, Arlene Apodaca, Annette and husband Robert Montano; along with her son Bernie Apodaca. She is also survived by a legacy of generations - grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, who will carry forward the light that she brought into their lives.
A viewing to pay respects to Antonia Apodaca will take place at Daniels Family Funeral Services - Sara Road Chapel in Rio Rancho on July 17th from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM followed by a Rosary at 11:00 AM. Funeral service will follow beginning at 11:30 AM before proceeding to Vista Verde Memorial Park in Rio Rancho for burial at 12:00 PM.
As we bid farewell to Antonia Apodaca today with heavy hearts but also with deep gratitude for having shared in the joy of her existence. May her spirit live on in each one of us as we carry forward the values of love, family, and resilience that she so beautifully embodied throughout her life.
