Antonio Gustavo Martinez Born 13th May 1942 and Died 05th January 2025, Age 82
“Tony” was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Helen Martinez, Brother Ralph Martinez and Sister Olivia Trujillo. He is survived by beloved siblings Joe Martinez, Victor Martinez, Alice Lujan, Charlene Aguilar, and Judy Cunningham. He also leaves two adoring children, Gabriel Martinez and Joey Martinez and two amazing Grandchildren, Anthony Gutierrez and Anna Martinez.
Tony was born in Taos, New Mexico where he lived until he left to join the National Guard. He then joined the Air Force and upon Honorable Discharge, he found himself in Dallas, Texas. Here is where he met Yolanda Martinez, mother of his children. He worked his way up from a janitor position to becoming an award winning salesman with GM. He continued a prestigious career in Big Truck and Equipment sales in New Mexico making thousands of contacts and more importantly, lifelong friends.
While raising his two children, Tony was the Dad every kid wished they had. He put them first in everything he did and thought, up until his final day. He never failed to show love, kindness, humor and a welcoming spirit. A Cowboy game and a good meal were what he loved to gather for and that never changed. His other absolute favorite pastime was telling (and retelling) his great stories. He amazed everyone with his collection of memories and his enjoyment of telling a tale!
Over his lifetime, Tony was awarded many professional accolades, exceeded many goals, was active with charitable contributions to his parishes and individuals, often without any recognition. The recognition never mattered to him but the meaning always did. He had an unwavering faith to his church and also to his loved ones. This generosity paid off in the end as he was immersed in the love and companionship of Family, Friends and Faith until his final moments. He left this world truly at Peace.
Our family would also like to extend a warm Thank You to the Presbyterian Hospice Staff, Volunteers, the staff at both the Robert Wertheim Hospice House and the Kaseman Inpatient Unit for the warm care they offered our father, Tony. Also, to his adoring caregivers that treated him like their own family. We were all blessed that they bonded with him and he was always surrounded by those he trusted and cared for.
Information for final services will be announced at a later time. Please contact his daughter Joey Martinez via email omjoey@gmail.com to be kept personally informed when plans are finalized.
