Ashley (Ash) Cowder

October 10, 1933 — August 11, 2018

Ashley B. Cowder (Ash), age 84, beloved father, grandfather and friend passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 11, 2018, in Albuquerque, NM.

Ash was born in Woodland, PA on October 10, 1933 to Edna and Harvey Cowder.  He is survived by daughters Debra and Lisa (Kerry), sons Steven and Ashley, Jr., step-son Kevin English (Lorie), step-daughter Julie Morrison (Robert), four grandchildren Erynn and Ryan Kay, Jonathan Plake, Aria Cowder, and one great-granddaughter, Morgan Ferris, and step-grandsons  Andrew Morrison and Carson English.

Ash was preceded in death by his first wife, Norma Evans Cowder, his second wife, Shirley English Cowder, granddaughter, Jenni Ferris, and by his nine brothers and sisters.

Ash graduated from Clearfield Area High School in 1952, and proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955, spending one year in Paris, France at the SHAPE Headquarters decoding messages.  He served in the National Guard during the years 1958-1961.

Ash thoroughly enjoyed his career as a sales manager for Nationwide Insurance for 30 years. 

He faithfully served in many capacities at Sandia Presbyterian Church in Albuquerque for over 20 years.  He particularly enjoyed his time as a coach and a referee for the Upward Basketball program at the church.

Ash will be greatly missed by his family, friends and those whose lives he touched with his kindness and compassion.

A memorial service will be held at Sandia Presbyterian Church, 10704  Paseo Del Norte, NE, Albuquerque on Monday, August 20th, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Sandia Presbyterian Church.
