Audrey M. Gilleland of Albuquerque, New Mexico passed away January 2, 2015 at the North Ridge Alzheimer’s Special Care Facility following a brief illness. Audrey was born December 28, 1932 in Hibbing, Minnesota to Stanley W. and Myrtle Gilleland.  She graduated from Hibbing High School and continued her education at the University of Minnesota where she graduated with a degree in education.  She pursued her teaching career in various locations including the Philippines and Japan, before settling in Albuquerque and teaching in Placitas. Audrey was preceded in death by her father, Stanley W. Gilleland, her mother Myrtle (Toettcher) Gilleland, her sister Eunice G. Bailey and a brother Stanley B Gilleland.  She is survived by two nephews, Richard (Annette) Bailey of Nashville, TN and Michael (Linda) Bailey of Michigan City, IN. Audrey loved cats and always had at least one in residence with her.  Many times she would bring in strays and give them a loving home. There are no immediate services planned.  Her ashes will be interred in Forest Hill Cemetery, Duluth, MN at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to any of the Humane Societies in Albuquerque, NM or an animal shelter of your choice.
