Aurelia R. Gonzales
June 28, 1930 - February 13, 2022
Aurelia decided to leave us and go home to join her husband, Tony Gonzales. She missed him so very much. Along with our dad, she wanted to hang with her children, Nina Carter and Gene Gonzales, it had been way to long.
Aurelias parents were, Aurelio and Eugenia Rodriquez who were also waiting for our mom, along with all her brothers and sisters.
Ida Montoya Amelia Rodríguez, Erlinda Valles, Delfino Rodríguez and Ermenio Rodríguez.
Aurelia is survived by her family:
Margaret & Steve
Susie & Edward
Gary & Shawn
Carolyn & Mike
Grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.
Sister-in-law Viola Valdez from Santa Fe.
And many other loving relatives and friends.
Aurelia had an extended vocabulary. She attended Loretto High School, in Santa Fe. We can just see mom sliding down that famous staircase.
Aurelia always had her hair and nails done. Was always dressed up. She had beautiful young-looking skin. We would ask her “Mom what do you use?” and she always said “Vaseline.”
Aurelia was very immaculate; you could eat off the kitchen floor. She as very organized. She even had her books that she read which was quite a few, dusted put in a bag so they would not get dusty and in alphabetical order. Our mom would always make her bed before she went anywhere.
She collected pigs and saltshakers. She loved reading, shopping, the casinos and Victor Newman from the Young and the Restless.
Our mom had a very good taste in men. Well of course she married our dad! Besides that, she thought Shemar Moore was very handsome and her favorite singer of all time was Elvis Presley.
She was a very strong person, at 85 mom was in the hospital and rehab for one year. Dad was with her morning, noon, and night, every day. The doctors would tell him to go home, and he would say “No this is my life now and I need to be with my wife”. While mom was still in the hospital dad’s cancer came back but he did not want to leave mom. Finally, mom came home, and dad’s cancer progressed worse. Mom at 86 took care of dad, she cleaned him, fed him, game him his meds. She did everything a caregiver would do. She did this everyday for a year until dad passed. She was amazing. Our parent’s love was like a diamond in the ruff. Rare and unquiet.
Our parents’ nicknames were:
Speedy Gonzales
Slowpoke Rodriguez
Our parents are in heaven singing and praising our Lord and waiting for all of us to come home.
