Barbara Jean Bristol Chrisman,87, passd peacefully from this life on Tuesday, January 11, 2011, in Farmington. She was born September 11, 1923, in Santa Ana, California.
Barbara Jean was raised in Huntington Beach, CA. She left and attended the Colorado Agricultural College in Fort Collins, CO and majored in nutrition. There she met her husband, Howard, and from then on, life was a picnic, ants and all.
Barbara and Howard traveled many places whole Howard was a B-24 pilot. After World War II, Howard and Barbara settled in Alamosa, CO. From there, Farmington needed a band and orchestra director and they both made the move.
Barbara was a woman of many talents. She was a newspaper reporter, a slocker, a sales clerk, a seamstress, an organist, a pianist, an artist, , and a percussionist with the symphony. She even restored a 1967 Dodge Charger.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Howard W. Chrisman, her legacy, daughters, Suzanne Gettman, Sallie Riley, Vannessa Chrisman; son, Kurt Chrisman; step-brothers; and "Honey" to six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
