Benito "Chamba" Armijo

Armijo, Benito M "Chamba"
Age 82, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 12, 2014 at his home in Socorro with his loving family at his side. He was born in San Antonio, NM on April 20, 1932, to Conrado and Theresa Gallegos Armijo. He grew up in San Antonio and as a teenager moved to Socorro. Chamba joined the US Army National Guard in 1948 and he proudly served until 1992. Chamba and Vivian Aragon were married in 1991. He was a hard worker and retired as a cook from Chartwell's at New Mexico Tech. Chamba loved to cook and enjoyed showing his love for others by cooking up a storm for them.  He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend to all and he will be remembered for his golden heart. He is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Nelson Zamora; sisters, Prescillia Baca and Eduivighen Peralta; and granddaughter, Pamela Martinez.  He is survived by his wife, Vivian; daughter, Josie Pino (Ruben Padilla); brother, Conrado Armijo; sister, Tiven Padilla, Leo Murphy and Esther Silva; granddaughter, Miranda Martinez (Frankie Marquez); grandson, Andrew Martinez (AJ); great grandchildren, Andres and Arecelli Martinez; and many nieces and nephews. The Holy Rosary to be recited on Thursday, December 18, 2014, at 7:00 pm at San Miguel Catholic Church, 403 El Camino Real , Socorro. Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Friday, December 19, 2014, at 10:00 am at San Miguel Catholic Church.  Celebrant Father Andrew Pavlak.  Burial will take place at San Antonio Cemetery following service.  Pallbearers will be Theresa Chavez, Jerrylynn Cano, Mikayla Craddick and Alisha Pino-Lucero.  Honorary pallbearers are Ruben Padilla, Andrew Martinez Jr., Carl Cano, David Chavez, Joe Zamora, Larry Montoya, Rey Peralta,  Michael Silva, and Alejandro "Tiger" Chavez.  Chamba's care has been entrusted to
