On the morning of Sunday, April 28th, 2019, Benito Chavez lost his battle with Dementia. He passed peacefully at home surrounded by the love of his children and grandchildren. He has gone home to his Heavenly Father where he will now rest in peace free from all pain and worry.
Benito graduated from Socorro High School in 1954 and went on to the University of New Mexico's, Business College, receiving certificates in Radio Operator, printer Operator and Telegraphy.
He was a proud veteran who served his country during 1955-1959 in the U.S. Air Force as a 1st class Airman. Benito was a decorated veteran with many awards given during his service.
Benito was a proud, supportive member of the Tabernacle of Love, Faith, & Hope, his daughter leads as pastor. His hobbies included golfing and bowling. He was known to always "weigh out the good and the bad" and was a firm believer that "whatever you do - do your best at it because you only have one first impression".
He was preceded in death by his wife, Natividad Chavez; brothers, Mike and Fred; sisters, Margaret, Isabel and Corina.
Benito is survived by his children, Eloisa Martinez and husband Jerry, Avelia Castillo and her husband Javier, Victoria Holguin and husband Victor, Angela Lucero and husband Matthew, Benito Chavez Jr. and wife Jeanette; 14 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and his sister, Fedelina Chavez Pino.
The Chavez family has been forever shaken. We have truly lost the strongest pillar of our family; A man to be treasured, honored and respected greatly. Although a void has been left behind, we know Benito will be waiting in a place that has been prepared for us all.
"In my Father's house are many mansions... I go to prepare a place for you". John 14:2-3
