Benny Padilla

PADILLA- Benny Padilla, 79, a resident of Rio Rancho, NM, since 1987, was called home by the Lord on February 19, 2009. He joined his beloved son ,Paul, and daughter, Gloria. Benny was born on April 28, 1929, the son of Jose D. Padilla and Rebecca L. Lopez. Benny was a "paratrooper" in the U.S. Army. He and the family moved to California in 1953, until he retired and returned to NM. Benny is survived by his loving wife, Catarina "Kate" Padillla; 4 children, Benny Jr. and wife, Maggie, of Fairfield, CA, Herman Padilla and wife, Patricia, of Santa Fe, NM, Robert Padilla of West Covina, CA, and Anna Cooper and husband, Chris of Albuquerque, NM. He is also survived by one brother, Arturo Padilla and wife, Ethel; two sisters, Sylvia Sanchez and husband, Secudino, and Christina Lopez and husband, Joe; 10 grandchildren, Joseph, Timothy, Angela, Diane and husband, Keith, Phillip, David, Sarah, Alyssa, Brianna, and Hannah; and 2 great-grandchildren, Aden and Alyssa. Benny was a gentleman and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His friendly demeanor and smile will be greatly missed by both his family and friends. A Visitation will be held Sunday, February 22, at 6:00 PM, with Rosary to be recited following at 7:00 PM, at Daniels Family Funeral Services at Sara Chapel. Mass will be held on Monday, February 23, at 10:30AM at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 1502 Sara Rd SE, Rio Rancho, NM, followed by internment at Vista Verde Cemetery.
