Bernard "Bernie" E. Smith

Bernard "Bernie" E. Smith, age 91, beloved and devoted husband and father, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, August 12, 2014. He was born in Sutton, West Virginia and was a resident of Rio Rancho, NM. Bernie was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, and The Knights of Columbus, Council #9928. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. Bernie enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vida and Lee Smith. Bernie is survived by his loving wife, Gloria G. Smith; his son, William "Bill" L. Smith; and nephew, Delmus Burge and wife Patti. Bernie will be greatly missed by his loving family. Visitation will be held Monday, August 18, 2014, 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church , 9502 Fourth St. NW, where a Rosary will be recited at 8:00 a.m., followed by the Service of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m. Interment will take place at 1:30 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
