July 5, 1935 - June 2, 2011 Bernard "Bernie" McDaniel, 75, of Farmington, passed away on Thursday, June 2, 2011, in Farmington, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born July 5, 1935, in Nauvoo, Ala.
He graduated from Ensley High School in Birmingham, Ala., attended Auburn University and was a Staff Sergeant Radar Operator in the U.S. Air Force.
He met the love of his life, Marjorie Symmonds, in 1955. They were married in 1959, and celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary in April of this year. The couple have three children, Renee, Lynn and Terry.
After retiring from the Local 1319 Millwright Union, Bernie enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his father, Ethan McDaniel; mother, Gertrude Norton; stepfather, T.K. Norton; brother, Boyd McDaniel; and grandparents, Alonzo and Maude Keeton.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie; daughters, Renee Hawkins of Bloomfield and Lynn Edwards (Glenn) of Dallas, Texas; his son, Terry McDaniel of Farmington, sister, Sandra Tillery (Tim) of Georgia; six grandchildren, Brandy (Greg) Cassie (Eric), Jon, Taylor, Dalton and Chase; and five great-grandchildren, Cash, Kami, Alyse, Jocelyn, Gaige and Addison (due on Bernie's birthday).
Bernie will be missed. We realize his pain and suffering has ended but we know we'll have a joyful reunion in Heaven one day.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 6, at Brewer, Lee & Larkin Funeral Home, 103 E. Ute St. in Farmington.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 7, at Memory Gardens, 6917 E. Main St. in Farmington, with Pastor Tim Castillo officiating.
Pallbearers are Glenn Edwards, Jon Clelland, Pete Wharton, Chris Clayton, Eric Rivas and Nick Clayton.
A reception at Crestview Baptist Church, 4400 E. Main St. in Farmington, will follow the graveside services. Memorial contributions may be made in Bernie's name to the an Juan Animal League, P.O. Box 142, Farmington NM 87499
