Bernice Ivy Boyle

Age 90, resident of Belen from 1995 to 2015, passed away September 23, 2015. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Hurst and son-in-law John Hurst of Albuquerque; her sister Betty (Al) Ewert of Calistoga CA; brother-in-law Carl Boyle of Johnstown NY; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.  She was preceded in death by her husband, George, in 2014.  Bernice received her diploma in nursing at Oakland Hospital, and worked as a nurse in California and New York. After moving to Belen,   Bernice was an active member of the Friends of the Belen Library.  While serving as president of the Friends of the Library Board of Directors, Bernice was instrumental in obtaining support and funding for the Belen Library expansion and renovation.  Bernice’s family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Friends of the Belen Library, the New Mexico Center for Nursing Excellence, or your favorite charity in her name. A private cremation was entrusted to Daniel’s Funeral Home in Albuquerque.  A celebration of life will be held at the home of Pat and John Hurst.  Contact Pat Hurst for more information.
