Age 86, a life long resident of Placitas, went home to the Lord on Feb 22, 2016 after a long illness.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Eufracio Duran, and Florinda Baldonado Duran, as well as his brother Dan and Aresenio Duran. Bernie is survived by his wife, Viola; and his children, Linda Valencia, Clifford DeLara (wife Judy), Ronnie Duran (wife Juliet), Bernie "Clarence" Duran Jr. (wife Juanita), and Donna Butterman (husband Johnathan); his loving grandchildren, Pamela Esquivel (husband Emilio), Vincent Valencia, Janelle Valencia, Marty DeLara, Dyon DeLara, Daniel Duran (wife Jessy), Thomas Duran, and Robert Duran (wife Kryss); great-grandchildren Sergio Esquivel, Angelica Esquivel, Timothy Chavez, Lucas Duran, Andrew Duran, and Zachary Duran; his sisters, Beatrice Gutierrez, Minnie Anzures (husband Armando), Flora Baca (husband Adolfo), sister-in-law, Valentina Duran; numerous extended family and friends.
Bernie joined the United States Army and served in the Korean War. Upon his honorable discharge from the US Army, he returned home and pursued a career with Hydro Conduit where he retired after 33 years of service. Bernie joined the American Legion Post 69, Alameda, NM and was a loyal dedicated member for over 50 years. He was also a generous supporter of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund for many years.

A memorial service will be held on February 26, 2016 at 10:00 am at Las Placitas Presbyterian Church. Hwy 165 Placitas, New Mexico. Pastor Drew Henry officiating. Internment will follow at Las Huertas Land Grant Cemetery.
Pallbearers to be his grandsons, Marty, Robert, Dyon, Daniel, Thomas and great-grandsons, Timothy, Sergio, and Andrew. Honorary pallbearers, Vincent, Angelica, Zachary, and Lucas.
