Bess Marie Hutchins

Bess Marie (Myers) Hutchins June 14, 1924 - February 2, 2010 Bess Hutchins passed from this life on February 2, 2010, with her son Tim at her side. She was born June 14, 1924 in Fruitland, New Mexico to Chet and Jeanetta Myers. She attended Kirtland schools and graduated in 1941. She moved to Albuquerque where she attended Beauty College. She then met Mart Hutchins and they married in 1944. They were married 63 years until his death in February, 2008. Mart and Bess had three children, Tim, Rhonda, and Sue. They ranched in Vallecito, and Bayfield, Colorado through their early years of marriage until they moved to Kirtland, NM. in 1959. Bess went to work at Kirtland Jr. High School where she worked as a secretary 25 years until her retirement in 1985. Bess loved cooking and canning, sewing, playing the piano, working with her flower and vegetable gardens, going camping and fishing, walking with family members, and attending family cookouts. She never forgot a family member or friend's birthday. For generations her nieces and nephews dropped by for homemade popcorn balls or bubble gum. She was a diligent caretaker to those she loved and was loved by all. Bess is survived by her son Tim and daughter Sue, her sister, Florence Harper and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Chet and Jeanetta Myers, husband , Mart, daughter, Rhonda and brother, Arley Myers.
