Garcia, Bessie L. Bessie Lovato Garcia, 91, loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend, was called home to eternal rest on August 22, 2012. Bessie was born to parents Francisquita Lucero of Isleta Pueblo and Ignacio Loyola Lovato of Lamy, New Mexico on December 20, 1920. She was baptized in Isleta Pueblo with the name of Maria Isadora Vicentita Lovato by her godparents Vicente and Gila Piro and was named after her paternal great aunt, Maria Vicentita Lovato Martinez of Lamy New Mexico. Bessie was a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico and an enrolled member of the Isleta Pueblo. Her Indian name was Kitu. She is survived by her brothers Ignacio Lovato Jr., Raymond Lovato (Diane), Alfred Lovato, sons David L. Garcia; Vincent Paul Garcia; Rueben E. Garcia; Orlando (Lenni) Garcia (Mary); Richard L. (Dikki) Garcia; Deborah Atler (Carl); and Francella Marie Garcia. She has seven grandchildren, Jerome Muniz, Albert Muniz, Justin and Nick Garcia of Frisco, Texas, Tammy Tsabatsaye of Bernalillo New Mexico, Eric Garcia, Brian Garcia, and eight great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Bessie was preceded in death by husbands, Pablo L. Garcia and Joe Rael, sister, Mary Helen Sosebee (Lovato); Brother Richard Lovato and an infant brother William Lovato as well as her parents. Bessie attended Loretta School in Bernalillo, New Mexico and graduated from St. Catherine?s Indian School in Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1937. Thereafter, she worked at various places in Albuquerque during her early life until she met the love of her life, Pablo Garcia, both of whom raised five sons and two daughters. Pablo was with the State Police and thereafter became a Police Officer and then Detective with Albuquerque Police Department. After the death of her husband Pablo, she returned to work at Sears until she retired. Bessie has always been a unique and strong woman. From her early childhood she managed to cope with every obstacle that life placed in front of her. She kept her brother and sister together as a family even as she started a family of her own. She was the strength behind her husband, whose career as a law enforcement officer, kept her awake on many a night. She managed a household with extended family and there was always food at the table for her family and everyone else who managed to come by. Although she stated she wasn?t a good cook, her family and friends all remember her delicious red chili enchiladas and sweet rice. She was a beautiful woman, both in appearance and at heart. She had millions of friends throughout her life. God blessed her with a big heart and a great personality. Ironically, it was that big heart that was the last to go. She will be greatly missed. Rosary and eulogy for Bessie will be held on Friday, August 24, 2012 at 7:00 p.m., at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church 5311 Phoenix Avenue NE. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, at 10:00 a.m., at Queen of Heaven Church with interment to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery where she will be interred next to her husband Paul. Muniz and Jerome Muniz Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be, Carl Atler, Emilio Muniz and grandsons Nick Garcia. She is deeply loved and will be missed by all her family and friends. 3113 Carlisle Blvd NE
