Bette Sasmor
Long time Albuquerque resident Bette Pianin Sasmor (89) passed away June 11th 2015, in Newburyport Massachusetts. Bette and her husband of 35 years, Daniel, moved to Albuquerque in 1960, where she worked for several years as a surgical nurse at Lovelace. In the late 60’s Bette took her expertise in health education to the public school system where she served as a school nurse and health educator, most notably at Del Norte High School until she retired. Bette and her husband Daniel were members of Congregation B’nai Israel where she served on many committees, sang in the synagogue choir and was active in Hadassah. Bette was also a member of the Albuquerque Civic Choir and long-time patron of the Santa Fe Opera. In her mid-70’s Bette developed Alzheimer’s and was moved to an assisted living facility in Newburyport in 2003 under the watchful eye of her eldest daughter, Dr. Michele Sasmor.
Bette is survived by her children: Michele Sasmor, Newburyport, MA, Henri Sasmor, Oceanside, CA, Aaron Sasmor, Eugene, OR and Helena Sasmor, Colton, CA
As the wife of a veteran, Bette will be interred in the National Cemetery in Santa Fe alongside her husband who passed away in 1990. A short funeral service will be held on Monday July 6th at 1:30 pm at the National cemetery.
